What?! Toss A Perfectly Good Light Bulb?
It goes against a Vermonter’s grain to throw out something that still works. Like, an incandescent light bulb that hasn’t yet burned out. It just seems wasteful to toss it. But the truth is, it’s more wasteful to keep using those bulbs than to throw them away and replace them with compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs).
You see, by using CFLs, you’ll need as much as 75% less energy to keep your lights on. And, because CFLs can last as much as 10-times longer, you won’t need to buy bulbs as often. All that adds up to money in your pocket.
If you’re concerned about the environmental impact of putting more incandescent bulbs in the landfill, keep in mind that incandescents damage Vermont ’s environment as long as they’re lit. That’s because they demand more electricity from power plants that, in turn, pollute the air. Bottom line: Hanging onto old incandescents costs you, and the environment, day after day. Find stores selling
CFLs.
Happy Fall!
